Wow, what a wonderful Friday surprise: The PlayStation 5 Slim is seemingly here, as listings have been quietly popping up at multiple retailers as of Nov. 10. No official announcement has come from Sony at the time of this writing, but we expect the company to alert the public soon, as the new Slim version of the already coveted console is almost certainly going to be a hot item this holiday season.
The new model comes in a smaller package than the original, with about a 30 percent reduction in volume, according to Sony. That's great news for those who don't have a lot of space, but something we can all get excited about is that the PS5 finally got a storage upgrade — the Slim will feature a 1TB SSD, compared to the 256GB SSD that came with the original model. The base PlayStation 5 Slim will come with a disc drive, much like the original, but those who purchase the Digital Edition of the console will have the option to add on a detachable Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive at a later date for $79.99 (those listings have yet to go live, but we'll update you when they do). Sony also announced that a new vertical stand for the PlayStation 5 will be available to pick up this month, and it turns out that page is up as we speak — snag one for just $29.99.
