Why we like it

Powered by a newer MediaTek Kompanio 520 CPU, this 14-inch Lenovo Chromebook comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of eMMC storage, and a 1080p touchscreen display. It's not an incredibly exciting spec sheet, but it should serve you well for basic web browsing and word processing. Apologies to anyone who bought it at Best Buy after it went on sale there for $169 (making it sell out). Lenovo just marked it down to $149.99 as part of its own Cyber Week sale. That's a 52% savings.

Why we like it

Sub-$600 gaming PCs were the fastest-selling laptops on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and this HP Victus appears to be the only one that's still hanging around. HP's Cyber Week Sale takes $350 off its $949.99 sticker price, which works out to a 37% savings. It's a slim 15-inch model with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 graphics, 512GB of storage, a backlit keyboard, and some nice built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers.

Other highlights include 16GB of memory for multitasking, 1TB of storage, a 1080p webcam, a backlit keyboard, and a 16-inch widescreen display with a 120Hz refresh rate. If you're not a big Apple fan, this is an extremely solid MacBook Pro alternative — and its $799.99 sale price (an impressive 47% savings) is one of the best Cyber Week laptop deals available right now.

Released in mid-2022, this is a Mashable's Choice Award-winning laptop with a speedy M2 chip, lightweight design, and "dreamy" keyboard, to quote tech and games reporter Alex Perry.

There are several times throughout the year when we see extra-low prices on laptops:

  • Around Amazon Prime Day and its fall counterpart (which happened on July 11 and 12 and Oct. 10 and 11 this year, respectively)

  • During back-to-school sales in July and August (which come to a head over Labor Day weekend)

  • When retailers' Black Friday and holiday deals are in full swing from October to December

  • Whenever manufacturers unveil next-generation models

Best Buy tends to be the best major retailer for laptop deals, followed by Amazon and Walmart. That said, all three sell a lot of discontinued models and often inflate original list prices, making their deals look better than they actually are. (Amazon and Walmart are also rife with sketchy listings from third-party sellers.) As such, we always cross-check model numbers and prices with manufacturers' direct websites and look for deals there, too.

We're partial to Acer, Apple, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft, MSI, Razer, and Samsung. They're reputable brands that typically tick most (or all) of the right boxes when it comes to innovative features, durable build quality, and overall value.
